Introducing Bomboniere: Three Tins, Three Neighbors, One Very Sicilian Idea
May 07, 2026
In Sicily, you don't leave a celebration empty-handed.
Bomboniere are the small gifts you give guests at a big celebration such as a wedding, baptism, first communion or birthday. A little something to take home. A way of saying: we're glad you were here, and we want you to remember it.
We've been giving away our family's olive oil as bomboniere since long before Pegaso existed. It's how the whole thing started: guests at our celebrations kept asking where they could buy it, and we kept saying nowhere. So when we finally decided to share it with the world, we knew what to call the first gift set.

What's in the Bomboniere collection?
The Bomboniere collection is three 175 mL tins, each a single-origin olive oil from a small farm on the hills of Mt. Iblei in southeastern Sicily. Not our farm, our neighbors' farms. Families whose land sits close enough to ours that our trees are basically cousins.
Each tin is different. Same hills, same October 2025 harvest, same cold-pressing within hours of picking. But different cultivars, different characters and different things to love. Consider this trio as a tour of what these hills can do.
Without further ado, the three tins:
N. 3
Tonda Iblea & Verderese
This one is bright and a little feisty — green and grassy up front, with touch of bitterness and a clean peppery finish. It smells like a tomato vine and a freshly-cut field. The kind of oil that makes a simple piece of bread into a whole thing.
Taste: Medium intensity, bright and green, lively bitterness, clean peppery finish
Aroma: Fresh tomato vine, cut grass, wild herbs
N. 19
Biancolilla & Nocellara del Belice
Savory and full — this is the one that makes you stop and think about what you're tasting. Rich and green, with an artichoke quality and a warm pepper finish that sticks around a while. It smells like a farmer’s market and a Sicilian kitchen at the same time. The kind of oil serious cooks reach for.
Taste: Savory and full, rich green character, warm peppery finish that lingers
Aroma: Artichoke, fresh herbs, green almond
N. 24
Tonda Iblea & Nocellara del Belice
Perhaps the most approachable of the three: lush, a little fruit-forward, with a surprisingly silky texture. Ripe tomato and green almond on the nose, and a finish that's gently peppery without ever being harsh. The one you open first at a dinner table and pass around to kick things off.
Taste: Lush and fruit-forward, silky texture, balanced and gently peppery
Aroma: Ripe tomato, fresh herbs, green almond
Three different oils. Three different farms.
All grown within a few kilometers of each other on the same volcanic and limestone hillsides that have been growing olives longer than anyone can remember. All pressed at the same local frantoio (olive press) we use for our family olive oil.
Give them as gifts. Bring them to a dinner party. Keep all three and cook your way through them. Or do what we'd do: open all three at once and let your dinner guests pick a favorite. Sicilians have been arguing about olive oil for centuries. Let’s keep the tradition going!
Like everything we make, the Bomboniere collection is made in limited quantities.
Sharing good food with the people you love — that's the most Sicilian thing we know.
